Course Description: This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to broaden understandings and acquire skills for a lifetime of personal fitness and engagement in physical activities.
Class Objectives: The student will be able to actively participate in the various sports and activities throughout the year and apply it outside the school setting by living a physically active lifestyle. The student will be able to display knowledge of the various sports and activities in which he/she will participate by following the rules and completing written assessments during each unit. The student will be able to participate in various sports and activities and model good sportsmanship through his/her verbal and nonverbal actions throughout the year.

Classroom Policies and Procedures: Students are to be in the required Fisher physical education apparel (sleeveless shirts are NOT permitted) and in the designated teaching area following the bell.
Students are to wear their own Fisher physical education uniform, socks, and tennis shoes (NO backless tennis shoes). Students who forget their uniforms may borrow from the teacher and return it prior to the end of class. Students interested in borrowing a uniform MUST check out the desired clothing item(s) from the physical education teacher in order to receive a shirt, shorts, or both.
Students are permitted to rent once during the semester with no penalty to their grade. A student renting (not wearing his/her clothes) more than once during the semester, will receive a two point deduction each time from the current grade.
In cooler temperatures, students are permitted to wear plain or Fisher logo only sweats over their uniform. Jeans, jeggings, pajama pants, skinny jeans, etc. are not permitted attire during class.
Physical Education “No Dress” Procedures and does not include unexcused absences.
1st No Dress will result in a verbal warning.
2nd No Dress will result in a verbal warning by the teacher a letter sent home, and a detention with the classroom teacher.
3rd No Dress will result in a verbal warning by the teacher, a letter sent home, a phone contact, and a detention with the classroom teacher.
4th No Dress will result in the same as the 3rd No Dress with a statement stating the next No Dress will result in administrative notification and an issued Saturday School request upon a future occurrence for not dressing for physical education class.
5th No Dress and any future incidence will result in the same as the 4th No Dress with a Saturday School request issued by the classroom teacher to the administration.
Students excused from physical education activity due to a medical reason (from physician/trainer) will be required to complete a physical education assignment during the class period for a grade. A parent note (good for 3 days) may be used to inform the teacher regarding a medical situation prior to being seen by a physician or trainer. However, the student will be required to make up the missed activity through completing an assignment.
Additionally, students with an excused absence from class will be required to complete an assignment to make up for missed class time. Each student will have the opportunity to complete the assignment within one week and earn full credit for the missed period. A student will not receive credit for the missed period due to failure to turn in the completed assignment or failure to turn in the completed assignment within the designated time frame .
There will be five participation points available every day from each physical education domain (psychomotor, cognitive, affective). Extra points may be awarded for punctuality, outstanding behavior, good sportsmanship, and extra effort. Points may be taken away for being late, breaking rules, or poor sportsmanship.
Students will be graded on different skills throughout the year. There may also be written assessments given at any time.
Please lock any valuables in your locker. (It is suggested to lock all of your belongings in your own locker during class.)
If you see clothes lying on the floor, please place them in the lost and found basket. Please pick up after yourself.
Each student is responsible for his/her own lock and locker. If a lock is lost, the student will have to pay $5.00 to replace the lock, before a new lock can be issued.
Each student is also responsible for his/her own folder. If a folder is lost, the student will be required to pay $2.00 to replace the folder, before a new folder can be issued.
It will be the responsibility of each student to pay or replace damaged equipment.
There is an electronic device policy in physical education class. Students are NOT permitted to have or use electronic devices in the locker room. Students are also not permitted to have them in the gym during instructional time unless permission is granted by the teacher during certain activities where the device is applicable. Failure to adhere to these expectations will result in disciplinary action.
